Sometimes a car's appearance can be misleading since its silhouette can lead you to assume it belongs to one class when it actually belongs to another. For instance, the Renault Arkana. You may assume that it considers high-end coupe SUVs like the Mercedes GLC Coupe and BMW X4 to be direct competitors given its broad stance and sloping roof line, but this is untrue.
In actuality, it falls short of that crowd's build quality, opulent atmosphere, and general reputation. The Arkana views more subdued options like the Toyota CH-R, Citroen C4, and Mazda CX-30 as direct competitors because it is more akin to a practical family crossover in a sassier rig-out.
Based on its CO2 and mpg ratings, the E-Tech is a good middle ground between its more conventional petrol and diesel competitors. Expect it to perform significantly better in and around town. In testing, we got 55 mpg, but this included a good number of freeway kilometres. It also has a good comparison with the official MPG rating, which is shown below.
Renault Arkana Fuel Consumption
Hybrid E-Tech 145: 105g-110/km CO2, 58.9mpg
Neither version of the Arkana should be expensive to run. Even the mid-hybrid petrol manages 48.7mpg on the combined WLTP cycle, which is competitive for an SUV of this size.
Renault Arkana 2025 Fuel Consumption
The E-Tech Hybrid, meanwhile, is the one to go for if economy matters most, with a claimed 58.9mpg combined. That'll vary depending on what you're doing. Unlike a diesel low-speed driving is actually more efficient than high-speed motorway driving, because the Arkana can run in electric power for a good chunk of the time.
The Arkana hybrid's 109g/km CO2 emissions aren't amazing, but neither car is that expensive to tax, and insurance groups range from 14-19 so aren't too high, although they're not best-in-class.
The fuel consumption of the Renault Arkana is shown below in both MPG (Miles Per Gallon) and km/L (Kilometers Per Litre). Both of these figures show you how far that particular Renault Arkana variant can travel for every gallon (4.55 litres) and every litre (1000ml) of fuel. The higher the MPG or km/L value, the more economical the car is and the cheaper it will be to run. As well as providing the combined figures, we also give you the fuel consumption you can expect from a Renault Arkana in urban / city driving conditions as well as what can be expected on the open highway / motorway.

The 'real fuel consumption' shows you the amount of fuel your Renault Arkana is consuming to travel a fixed distance. This is normally shown as L/100km. This figure shows you the amount of fuel consumed in litres for every 100kms travelled. This is the most commonly used figure for showing the fuel consumption of a vehicle. The formula to calculate it is:
(Litres of fuel used X 100) / Kilometers travelled = L/km.
